An Overview Promising Approach on Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) & Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) for the Intelligent Transportation System
Main Article Content
Abstract
VANETs, a type of mobile ad hoc network (MANET), are a promising solution for intelligent transportation systems (ITS). VANET enables vehicles to form a self-organizing network without the need for permanent infrastructure. The VANET has the potential to improve road safety, provide real-time traffic updates, and enhance travel comfort, attracting researchers' attention. VANET and MANET share common characteristics such as self-organization, dynamic topology, and ad hoc nature. However, VANET differs from MANET in terms of challenges, application, architecture, power constraints, and mobility patterns. Therefore, routing protocols used in MANET are not applicable to VANET. Researchers have proposed new routing strategies for VANET in recent years. This paper examines VANET architecture, characteristics, challenges, routing protocols, and simulation models.
