Abstract

Graph theory is one of the major branches of Mathematics which has extended its effect in various fields like communication network, genetics and many more. Cryptography is another important aspect of modern era. The need of secure and authentic communication and data transfer is increasing by time and as a result, the process of encryption and decryption is developing time to time. We can find various algorithms for encrypting messages. In this article we have proposed an algorithm of encrypting messages using graph theory. Here, the application of graph theory has a significant impact on the construction of the encryption algorithm. Here we have used a particular type of graph, namely the Corona graph to encrypt and decrypt messages by the use of Vigenère cipher, a well-known substitution cipher. We have elaborated this algorithm by examples. Along with that, the security aspect of this defined algorithm is checked and proved.
