Design and Implementation of Battery Charging and Monitoring Using ESP32
Main Article Content
Abstract
This work introduces a custom-designed hardware system developed for solar-powered battery charging and monitoring. A boost converter is employed to step up the solar panel voltage, with a modified MPPT approach integrating the Perturb and Observe technique and fuzzy logic to improve maximum power tracking during fluctuating irradiance. An ESP32 microcontroller manages the control operations and continuously monitors vital battery metrics, including voltage, temperature, State of Charge (SoC), and State of Health (SoH). To ensure precision, different type of sensors are integrated for real-time data acquisition. Battery performance and system status are displayed through an LCD interface, while a buzzer is incorporated to trigger alerts when the battery temperature crosses safe operational limits.
